Reno 1969
Metric Motors was established in November of 1969. It was the first independent Mercedes repair shop in Reno. Started by two factory trained technicians. Elfar and Collin partnered up to serve the Reno area for people to have a choice other than the dealer and there repair prices. They worked the partnership for the next 5 years only to split in 1975. Elfar Skulason bought out his partner and continued to work at the first Metric Motors location on 1995 E. 4th St. in Reno.

Reno 1979
In June of 1979 Elfar’s son Sandur joined his father to continue the business and learn how to repair {MERCEDES BENZ} at that time we were looking to expand our shop area. The next location was up at the top of Valley and Timber way in North Reno. We moved to that location in 1980. Metric Motors took care of the Mercedes people for the next 6 years at that location only to move to a newer location more than five years later.

Reno 1986
Metric Motors then settled into the shop on 1201 E. 4th St. and Sutro in 1986. The team here was able and happy to serve many great customer, friends and family at this location for over 30 years. In 2016 Elfar had decided to retire and leave the shop to his son Sandur. He took over in April 2016. Sandur’s wife Tyna joined the business to help with costumers and the books. Since then Sandur and Tyna have served the Reno area for all the Mercedes repairs totaling the last 37 years.

Reno 2017
Our shop is now in a new location in Sparks Nevada. We are ASE certified technicians and we are all ready to take care of your Mercedes with great prices and years of experience repairing Mercedes and other fine foreign vehicles. Our shop specializes working on Mercedes while also repairing and servicing BMW,  and Jaguar. Our shop will be celebrating a grand opening soon at our new location at 1005 Greg st. in Sparks NV. 89431. Between Industrial and Merietta on the south side of Greg St. to better serve you.
